Rob Edwards and O'Neil represent the initial candidates under consideration to replace the former manager as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday after the team's 10-match without a victory beginning to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore both candidates - each of whom have historic associations to the team - are part of the options to be evaluated by the Wolves leadership.

The manager is currently at another club, which would create a possible obstacle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton Town manager - who made over a century of games for the club during his time as a player - is considered a leading contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the club board as they start the search of hiring a new manager.

Gary O'Neil is also appearing as a unexpected candidate, although he would be a shock appointment considering he was released by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham midfielder is currently unemployed which means the club would not need to pay any buyout fee.
